Sorry about not really being around, i'll try and put up some stuff here soon. But understand, like i said, i don't know how things are really working around here. or rather, how their not working. I've been finding myself very busy..
But in other news i have been preparing for Cinco De Mustache 2007. I'm gunna go buy a keg and rent a lot of Burt Renolds, and Tom Selick movies and invite a large amount of people over to my apt. If you show up to the party mustacheless you will have one drawn on you at the door, unless your a female (who are encouraged to wear a fake mustache). Sounds like a party to me.

"LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Starbucks Corp. said Monday it has formed its own record label, Hear Music, to develop records for sale both in its coffee shops and through traditional music retailers.
Starbucks' influence as a music retail outlet has grown in recent years. It posted its biggest success with the Ray Charles album "Genius Loves Company," a co-production with Concord Records that won eight Grammy awards. Concord is also partnering with Starbucks on the new record label..."
Just because the last time i was in a starbucks oh say 3 or 4 proud months ago and i have to admit i was impressed that they were selling Neko Case's Fox Confessor Brings The Flood doesn't mean they should start their own label. Maybe next they'll buy google and own the whole damn world, sad sad day..
Well i haven't posed any music recently, so here we go. Just because here is 2006's The Trials of Van Occupanther, by Midlake. I don't have to much to say right now. But tomorrow i do have a job interview at The Roasting Co. I need another job. So wish me good luck...
Sorry for the lack of updates. but like i said, things are moving slower around here. Well, the weather here in Southern Oregon here has been so nice,(check out beautiful downtown Ashland this time of year!!!) all i can do is roll my window down and open up the sun roof and turn up the stereo. The choice I've chosen recently has been The Black Crowes - Shake Your Money Maker. In my humble opinion one of the greatest rock albums ever.. The album is the perfect highway companion, or rural companion - ah hell, its been one of my best friends ever. Their is no way to compare this record to anything that came out along side of it. While Nirvana was bashing out grunge, and Pearl Jam was going political The Black Crowes just played some straight up rock music. Now, I love my nirvana, and pearl jam don't get me wrong. But Sometimes ya just gotta crank up the stereo, and listen so some good 'ol rock music.
Other Summer records i would recommend would be Elvis Costellos' My Aim Is True. or The Faces - Long Player.
*i'll upload these records soon, or something, the Internet is being a little slow for me to do anything right now.
With a couple of posts ago I spoke of how it would be interesting to see the new Son Volt come out around the same time of the new Wilco record and compare to two. The new Wilco record is not set to debut till May 15, and the Son Volt record came out yesterday, so it didn't seem possible. Wilco has not released a studio album sense 2004's "A Ghost Is Born" and after that, the live album 2005's Kicking Television: Live in Chicago. It had been a while sense we'd heard from either band. Now like i said before, Son Volt is an amazing band, but the lack of development in their sound is a downer, but not a complete loss. Not that the record can't stand up on its own, but rather it stands with equal wait, and tone with all the other records in the Son Volt discography. After Uncle Tupelo broke up, the two offspring's that people have almost made to seem the unfortunate rivals in the Alt. Country world. To me, the split is one of the best things to happen to the music community. If that confuses you, let me say this to you. Wilco, and Son Volt are two of my favorite bands. I love Uncle Tupelo, but i love Son Volt and Wilco are just better bands to me. With that being said, Wilco is on top of its game!
While Son Volt may have a lack of progression in their work, I found that after the amazingly brilliant Yankee Hotel Foxtrot that A Ghost Is Born took me to a place I didn't like. I never have been able to get into the record, I can't figure out what it is about the record, it just hasn't grown on me. I wasn't sure what to expect from Wilco on this new record. I was hoping and praying that i might get something new, a new sound with maybe a little AM flavor, ad a little Being There, maybe a little dash of singer/songwriter style Elliott Smith. BAM! you get Sky Blue Sky. The country elements really come into play in this one, now maybe not at first listen, but its the subtleties of this record that really make it stand out. The record starts out with a little lick on the 'ol black n' white keys that make you think, "Oh Goodie! another Ghost Is Born..." but not so, Tweedy voice comes in and takes you to a smooth relaxing place. With the most beautiful lyrics. The strings come in, and it all ad's up to one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a long time, with a brilliant guitar solo atypical of Wilco. With use of Strings, Lap Slides, and intricate songwriting, Sky Blue Sky might just be the best Wilco record yet!
The record over all is just amazing. It combines classics Wilco elements, the songwriting and integrity we've come to love and respect about Wilco. And with Sky Blue Sky they do not disappoint on any of the tracks. The album goes as such:
1. Either Way 2. You Are My Face 3. Impossible Germany 4. Sky Blue Sky 5. Side with the Seeds 6. Shake it Off 7. Please Be Patient With Me 8. Hate it Here 9. Leave Me (Like You Found Me) 10. Walken 11. What Light 12. On and On and On
The stand out tracks to me are, Either Way, Impossible Germany, Hate it Here, and What Light. I love all the tracks so far, but those are my Fav's. And when my new uploading service I've subscribed to starts working for me I'll upload a track or two for you to listen to. But if your clever enough you'll be able to track it down on the internet.
